A quick search for Hawaii wedding packages (or something similar) on Google or any search engine of your choice will give you the idea that there are quite a lot of companies to choose from when it comes to planning your wedding in Hawaii. That of course, doesn’t make planning your wedding  any easier. In fact, it’s fairly obvious that it just makes it harder, takes more effort and can be time consuming.

But fear not! We’re here to give you our best tips on what to look for when choosing the right wedding company or coordinator to make your Hawaii wedding dreams come true.

1. Company age – The length of time the wedding company has been around signifies that they’ve probably seen and done it all and are capable with giving you the best experience. However, this also means that these types of wedding companies will be a bit rigid with their policies, giving you less concessions and leeway with your wedding plans. Newer companies are more eager to please you and will usually provide a few freebies for your wedding.  Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want.

2. Reputation and testimonials – Testimonials from past clients will give you an idea of how personable and professional a wedding company is, and if you “read between the lines,” you’ll get an idea of the company’s communication skills. However, don’t rely solely on what you read on the company site. Do a search for the company name and ask around wedding forums, check out review sites for any feedback about the company or coordinator. This form of “reputation research” will tremendously help you with your planning, but keep in mind that this is also a double-edged sword as no wedding company or coordinator can ever please all of its customers.

3. Products and services – The wedding coordinator’s products and services also give you hints in a lot of areas. Clearly structured packages that define what you’re getting for your money tells you that the coordinator is highly organized. But don’t just rely on the number of bullet points for each package. Make sure that each included package item is something that provides value for you as it’s quite easy to pad package items with a lot of fluff that may sound great at first but don’t exactly provide any value whatsoever. Also, the availability of add-on items and its ease of integration into any package shows you that the wedding company is willing to customize a package for you.

4. Photos! – It’s fairly safe to say that one of the most important aspects of your wedding day are your photos. They provide a window back to one of the most memorable moments in your life — a time capsule of sorts for the future. It stands to reason that your photos should reflect the happiness, the enchantment and the details of your event in a way that relates to your desires and preferences. While most wedding photos these days almost look the same, it’s still easy to find a few unique photographers out there that can capture your wedding day like no other. Take a look at our Hawaii wedding photography samples and compare them to others out there.

5. Pricing – Can’t decide between a hundred-dollar ceremony and one that costs 5, 8, or 10 times more? Just because a package has a lower price doesn’t mean that it’s actually good. Oftentimes, a package with a higher price tag actually provides a better value than a more affordable alternative, especially if you consider any add-ons. The bottom line is, you get what you pay for.
